IDEAS Metallic inks are a subtle way to add depth and interest to a printed piece. When appearing on coated stock or with a spot varnish, metallic inks will draw attention by reflecting light. Consider using this technique to distinguish your special collaterals, such as invitations and signature brochures, from other pieces. One thing to keep in mind is that metallic inks are opaque, which may affect transparencies or cause trapping issues, concerns that a qualified designer and printer can easily troubleshoot.

NEWS   Scott Lopes, owner of the Pizza Wave, Cape Cod, is developing a new brand—Stone L’oven Pizzeria. When Scott came to us in 2005 and said he wanted to invest in an image that would complement his current Pizza Wave logo, we worked closely with him to design a new menu, incorporating a fresh color scheme and custom illustrations. The color palette and imagery were then implemented into highly visible brand communications, such as the walls, which were painted using the same color and texture as the background of the menu, hand painted murals, welcome mats, menu boards, pizza boxes, delivery vehicles, uniforms, and even his cool retro trash cans were special ordered to feature the logo. After launching the new identity, sales immediately increased 30%. This overnight success inspired Scott’s brother to open a second Pizza Wave, in Bristol, RI, and prompted Scott to put us back to work on an entirely new concept. Look below for a sneak peek of the Stone L’oven Pizzeria identity.
